Chateau Mar Resort — Make It New Again

Built in the 1960s to house the families of soldiers heading to Vietnam, Chateau Mar Resort is a piece of Ormond Beach history. Decades of salt air had left its railings, stairs, and walkways with failing, peeling coatings. We stripped every floor, railing, and fascia of failing paint and oxidation, prepped the surfaces, and coated them so the resort looks new again — and holds up.

Rain, wind, and an oceanfront site didn't stop the job. We contained the work zones, kept guests and property protected, and ran the lift and dustless blasting setup floor by floor.

Legacy Surface Prep is a female-owned, Florida-based surface preparation and protective coatings contractor headquartered in Ocala. We operate from our appointment-only facility and with fully mobile equipment throughout Florida — bringing the right method and system to every project.

We built this company around one principle: every lasting result starts beneath the surface. We evaluate the substrate, identify the failure, select the correct preparation method — whether that means dustless blasting, soda blasting, media blasting, or another approach — and when required, carry the project through to final protective coatings. Preparation is not optional. It is the work.

Domenic Dennis, and his helper AI, did a great job blasting my bi-fold hangar door (18'x 20') and removing all the rust on both sides of the door down to bare metal, prior to the house painters painting the home. Initially the painters were just going to paint over the rust, but after I found Domenic and Legacy Surface Prep he walked me through his process and the long term value to having the steel door and frame prep'ed correctly. Domenic was prompt, and thorough and set up a barrier to prevent sand blast media and dust getting into hangar equipment. He was quite reasonable, and also sand blasted and painted a steel maintenance ladder that I had which in the Florida humidity had rusted. He painted the ladder to match, and came back and did a second coat. Great work, and very personable and reasonable. AI came back separately and got an old hydraulic lift working in my shop! Great job by both guys! Highly recommended.
